I'm Lorraine, the proud founder of Tantie Lorraine's, a small-batch Caribbean food brand handmade in Surrey, UK.
Born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago, I grew up in the countryside, raised by my aunts and grandparents and surrounded by a large, loving group of cousins. As a child I rode on my grandparents' donkey as I accompanied them to their land to collect oranges, coconuts, cocoa, mangoes and other fresh fruits and vegetables. Those experiences never left me they shaped the way I think about food, and the values behind everything I make today.
Now living in Surrey, I started Tantie Lorraine to share my passion for Trinidadian cuisine with the world. Every product - from my award-winning Scotch Bonnet Jam and Lime Pepper Relish to my Trinidadian Black Cake and Punch a Crema - is handmade in small batches using only fresh, natural ingredients, with no artificial preservatives or additives.
In 2019, 2021 and 2024, Tantie Lorraine products were recognised in the Great Taste Awards by the Guild of Fine Foods; the UK's most respected independent food awards. In 2024 our Scotch Bonnet Jam was awarded two stars, the highest rating in the range so far.
Through Tantie Lorraine, I aim to share the rich and diverse culinary heritage of the Caribbean, and to bring people together through the power of good food. I believe food has the ability to connect people from different backgrounds and cultures and I hope my products help foster a sense of community and belonging, wherever you are in the UK.
