All about me

I am a Trinidadian, born and bred in the sleepy country village of Mayaro on Trinidad's eastern coast. Being a country girl at heart, I have been involved in cooking and baking from an early age. One of my earliest memories was riding on the donkey following my grandparents to their 'garden' to collect oranges, coconut, cocoa, mangoes etc.
At the age of nine, I came to London to live with my mother and younger siblings. Growing up as the eldest of five in a single parent home, it was essential that I learnt to cook in the traditional way, and was ably taught by my mother Jackie.
On my return to Trinidad as a teenager, initially to spend Christmas but extended to ten years, I gathered as much information as was possible from anyone who would teach me. I learnt to make bread from my Aunt Edris, cakes from my Aunt Camily, sweets and bakes from my Grandmother 'Muma' and the secrets of a 'sweet hand' from my Aunt Memo.
All of this training has culminated in what you see here on this site. I hope you enjoy and I would love your feedback.
